ABOUT

SANDRA B. RODRIGUEZ

Sandra B. Rodriguez is a Mexican-American Production Designer with a background in architecture and a passion for visual storytelling. Raised in a small pueblo in Jalisco, Mexico, she attributes her love of film to childhood gatherings around the television with her family -a feeling she hopes to recreate through her work.

Sandra holds a B.F.A. in Architecture and an M.F.A. in Production Design from the American Film Institute. Her training in drafting, illustration, and model making informs a design approach that combines technical precision with narrative-driven worldbuilding. Working across Production Design, Set Design, and Art Direction, she has collaborated on more than twenty narrative projects spanning independent films, studio productions, and emerging filmmaker initiatives.

As a Production Designer, Sandra has led projects developed through Sundance Labs, McDonald's Spotlight Dorado, Walmart x Mitú, LFI Inclusion x Netflix, the Rideback RISE Program, and Film Independent Project Involve. Most recently, she served as Production Designer on the period feature film 1972, produced with the support of the Sundance Institute, further expanding her work in historically grounded, character-driven storytelling.

She has also contributed to the Art Department on productions including Mrs. Davis (Warner Bros./Peacock), The Terminal List: Dark Wolf (MGM/Amazon), Grotesquerie (20th Television/FX), and Platonic (Sony/Apple TV+). She is currently working on Season 5 of The Morning Show at Sony Pictures Studios.

Beyond her design work, Sandra is one of the inaugural mentors for the Latino Film Institute's (LFI) Blow the Line(BTL) Mentorship Program, serving as the Production Design mentor in one of the first mentorship initiatives dedicated to supporting the next generation of Latino filmmakers across below-the-line crafts. Through the program, she mentors emerging Production Designers as they begin building careers in the Art Department.

Sandra is an alumna of the ADG 800 Production Design Initiative (PDI), UCLA Design Showcase West, and Telluride Film Labs. She remains committed to exploring the intersection of architecture, design, and storytelling while fostering the next generation of filmmakers. She believes mentorship is an essential part of building a stronger, more inclusive film industry and is passionate about sharing her knowledge, encouraging emerging artists, and helping create opportunities for others to succeed.
